[Be prepared, this is quite a lengthy post. I applaud all who make it through the whole thing.] Yahoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Those seventeen exclamation marks are well deserved, because this is my 100th DAILY EWOK!!!! After months of waiting, here he is! Today’s ewok is named Centi, partly because he loves the number 100 so much! What’s shown here is just a small fraction of Centi’s vast collection of 100-related paraphernalia. Along with 100-shaped glasses, and the shirt and balloons with the number printed on them, Centi also owns water bottles, lunchboxes, shoes, plates, books, posters, bobble heads, bedspreads, pens, pencils, tablecloths, pillowcases, stationary, keychains, toothbrushes (see Daily Ewok #90), and more, all featuring his favorite triple-digit number. He tries to eat food in quantities of 100, and he even tries to plan his day in 100-minute blocks. To sum things up, Centi LOVES the number 100, which is why he’s so excited to be crowned Daily Ewok #100. I’m excited too. It’s been tons fun folding and writing this series. Seeing the number of people that comment on the posts that ask them to means so much, and I’m glad to be a small part of that many people’s lives. Watching the number of the ewoks grow from 10, to 20, to 50, to 100 was incredible, and well worth the work I put into it. Speaking of which, running Daily Ewok was kind of a lot of work at times. Folding a new ewok and writing a new story every single day got to be EXHAUSTING. Now, I know nobody is forcing me to do this, so technically it’s my own fault, but keeping ahead of the constant deadlines was really kind of stressful. That, combined with the fact that I’ll be starting up school again soon, (which means even more busyness) forced me to decide one thing: I NEED A BREAK!!! Centi is going to be the final Daily Ewok for a long time, and possibly forever. I just can’t keep doing this day after day. It was a hard decision, but I had to make it. Thanks to those of you who have followed the series at any point in time, from the one-time viewers to the hardcore Superfolders who’ve read all 100. I couldn’t have done it without you guys. Also, thanks to Tom for creating the ewok instructions in the first place, I literally could not do this without those. Putting acknowledgements aside for a moment, here are a few things you can look forward to even though Daily Ewok is done:
#1: I am still continuing Special Edition Ewok, because one ewok per origami showcase is so much more manageable than one per day.
#2: Do you know every ewok by name, from George to Centi? I’d bet not, I don’t even remember all of them. Now that the series is complete, you can reread it and get any Daily Ewoks you might have missed (see Daily Ewoks #1-#100)
#3: I may be starting another, less frequent series, maybe…
#4: Most importantly, everyone else on Superfolder Stookiness is AMAZING! There will never be an end to the talent found there, so check it out as often as you can!
I’ve seen other Daily series inspired by this one, and couldn’t be more honored. My advice to anyone who’d like to start one is to never give up, and to make a lot of origami ahead of time. I’ll let you in on a little secret: I had about 50 ewoks pre-made before I even considered starting Daily Ewok. That way, I had a long stretch of time to make more. Finally, I’d like to give one last thanks to everyone who made Daily Ewok possible, and leave with one final question: do you want Daily Ewok to return? If you’d like me to continue making ewoks, #101 and beyond, comment with a “STOOKY!” below. I’m not guaranteeing anything, but encouragement to continue would definitely help. I still enjoy making ewoks, and definitely want to keep writing stories to give answers to any lingering questions (Who are the prankster ewoks? What is Super Ewok’s secret identity? What was the mysterious figure that hypnotized Jeremiah?). What I’d like to know is if YOU want me to keep going. If people are bored of Daily Ewok, there’s really no point to keep on going, but if you guys want more, there’s really no point to stop. So like I said, comment with a “STOOKY!” to share your input, and who knows? You may see Daily Ewok #101 out there someday. I’d also like to give you all one final gift. All 100 ewoks got together for one final group photo, and I’ve posted it below. Feel free to save the picture, it’d make a great screen saver for a phone or computer. Well, I’ve put it off for long enough now, it’s time to say goodbye, and good luck!
