HEY SFs!!! Thanks for all the questions!
SuperFolder Jedisquirrel1138
First of all, I’d just like to say thank you for everything you’ve included my origami in since I started posting here. Here’s my question: my whole life I’ve wanted to be a filmmaker and do it as a career. I’ve made movies at home and for school projects but I’m doubtful that if I try it as a career ill be able to succeed at it. I figured that since you’re an author, which is a pretty cool job that not everyone can get, you might have some advice…so should I go all out for it and take a risk or just keep it as a hobby and find something else
TOM SAYS:
Well, you HAVE TO go for it!
Yes, it’s very hard getting a job directing, say, a Star Wars movie. Only a handful of people ever get to do that. But literally THOUSANDS of people get to be part of making Star Wars. Thousands get to be a part of making a Pixar movie. There are a lot of opportunities out there. Especially if you work towards them by studying, interning, practicing, etc…
Or maybe you want to make a low budget indie movie. It’s not easy, but in that case literally NO ONE is stopping you.
In my case, when no one wanted to publish my comics, I started self-publishing them on a xerox machine. Meanwhile, I was working very low paying jobs to get by. Who would believe that years later, I’d be writing and drawing Marvel characters Rocket and Groot?
True, I’ve never hit the BIG BIG time like my friends Dav Pilkey and Jeff Kinney, but I’ve had a GOOD time and done (almost) everything I wanted to do.
So, don’t talk yourself out of it. And if you ever need a pep talk, I’m here.

What’s your favorite book (No bias question meaning none of the books you made)? Why?
TOM SAYS: I have a lot of book that are favorite for different reasons:
Favorite Fantasy Series: Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander
Favorite funny but also genius book: Lizard Music by Daniel Pinkwater
Favorite NEW book: Plain Jane and the Mermaid

What was the first 3D movie you saw? Mine was “Toy Story 3.” 3D glasses are required because without them, the Left and Right images overlap.
P.S. On February 10, 2012, “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace” was re-released in theaters, but for the only time in 3D.
TOM SAYS: This was also the first full movie I ever saw in 3D! I bought special clip-ons for my glasses because they were supposed to show ALL the movies in 3D. I wish they had!

What’s your favorite Godzilla movie? Mine is ghidorah the three headed monster.
Oh and the picture is my Godzilla x Kong collection.
It’s not finished yet though….
TOM SAYS: I LOVE Godzilla! My favorite movie is GODZILLA MINUS ONE.
However, I have a lot of love for GODZILLA vs MEGALON for being one of the first I ever saw and introducing the greatest robot outside of Star Wars: JET JAGUAR!

Howdy Tom! We’ve been watching some Iron Man cartoons and we were wondering if can you please make a video showing how to make an origami iron man finger puppet. Thank you.
TOM SAYS: That would be fun! Maybe I can do that.
In the meantime, I’d suggest starting with C3P0 and them decorating it like Iron Man:

Dear Tom, I haven’t posted lately but was wondering how to get the “something” for completing the latest set of badges (because I did do the badges) and also what is the prize?
Oh and checkout my Mustifarian mini mini golf!
TOM SAYS: This mini golf course is STOOKY x 10000!!!!!!!
There’s no actual prize, I’m afraid. Other than printing out the badges, the “something” you get is that you spent your summer doing awesome stuff instead of “nothing.”
