Hi Tom, so I’m a new superfolder on this site, yet I’ve been folding a ton of origami ever since your Darth Paper book came out. Can I ask you a question about books?

I just started writing a book (It’s 82 pages long!) and I want to know about the publishing system and how it works… can you give me some Yoda advice on what to do and the process?

Try to look up a publishing company, and send your transcript-type-thingy (i know theres a real word but I cant think of it) as

The first thing to do is slow down.

Remember it took me 15 years from my first rejection letter to my first book getting published.

And it is REALLY hard for a kid to get a book published. Yes, I know there are one or two out there, but think how many kids are out there.

What I recommend: Finish your book. Work really hard on revising it, making sure it makes sense, etc… Then get someone to help you edit it. Make it really, really good.

Then print up copies for your friends and relatives.

Then listen to what they say. Change it if you need to.

Then and only then should you consider sending it to a publisher. Where do you find a publisher? Get the book: Publishers Marketplace from the library.

Tips from Webmaster Sam

1) After you submit... be patient. It can take 2-4 weeks for it to appear, simply because of the number of submissions submitted before yours.

2) A STRICT policy on the site is NO PEOPLE in your origami photos, including you. (Your hand is okay, but that’s it!)

3) Remember, clicking on SUPERFOLDER STOOKINESS is the best way to see ALL the origami SFs have posted! And if you like it, comment on it!

4) Take a little extra time and make sure you've got the BEST picture you can get of your origami. Maybe even crop and rotate the photo using a website like: PICRESIZE.com.
