Talk to Tom: Week of Dec. 30 — Winter Break Reading

Hey everybody!

Sam and I are both back from the holidays. We DID keep an eye on the site and I tried about 50 times to upload a picture of the Lego Jabba’s Palace I got for Christmas.

Just a reminder: All TRIANGULAR entries are due on Dec. 31st! Showcase will appear on Jan. 1. (No not at midnight. Look for it mid-afternoon)

This week’s question: What are you going to read during your time off?

I will hopefully finish a sci-fi novel I’ve been slogging through. (Great author, but so far book is not his best.) And I want to start on a Terry Pratchett novel, Truckers.

For Christmas I got Art2-D2’s guide to folding and doodling! It is EPIC/STOOKY! I have made an epic Princess Leia after many,many atempts, an Art2, Darth Paper (easy version) and loads more. That book is the best!

P.S You are sooooo lucky getting Jabba’s Palace! My bro got the milenium falcon!

So any ways I know you dont want to but a long time ago somebody asked you to tell how to make an origami c3p0 in FAQ and you said that it was too sloppy and that we wouldnt think it was very good. A Jabba’s Palace LEGO set? Triangular! The books I have been reading over break were Ender’s Game, The Surprise Attack of Jabba the Puppett, and the Soldiers of Halla (Pendragon). If there are any sci-fi fans here, then you MUST read the Pendragon series by D.J MacHale! He’s such a great author!

For the Origami Yoda and the Bounty Hunters OY EU story, I’m having a hard time writing dialogue for Dwight. I mean, he can be very random and off-topic most of the time, but I also need to get a point across or move the plot through his speech. Any tips?

My Christmas was stooky! I got Jabba’s Palace as well and the Jek-14 ship! The Jek ship is awesome, but I haven’t built the Palace yet because I’m in Florida, and I live in Tennessee. Plus I might get the RANCOR PIT! Yeah! Anyway, I already read my new Diary of a Wimpy Kid book, which was Hard Luck by the way, and now I’m reading Stranded 3: Survivors by Jeff Probst. It’s really good, and I highly recommend it.

Tips from Webmaster Sam

1) After you submit... be patient. It can take 2-4 weeks for it to appear, simply because of the number of submissions submitted before yours.

2) A STRICT policy on the site is NO PEOPLE in your origami photos, including you. (Your hand is okay, but that’s it!)

3) Remember, clicking on SUPERFOLDER STOOKINESS is the best way to see ALL the origami SFs have posted! And if you like it, comment on it!

4) Take a little extra time and make sure you've got the BEST picture you can get of your origami. Maybe even crop and rotate the photo using a website like: PICRESIZE.com.
