Origami Ninten Mother

SuperFolder Dude3000

Hey, all. This is a bit of an origami piece I made of a character called Ninten from a little game called “Mother”. I’ll explain it a little more in a bit, but right now I’d like to talk about what led up to its creation.

I first started reading this series all the way back when I was 10, about 5 years ago. I couldn’t get enough of it. I read all the books, I made a bunch of origami, and I even went to a book signing in Ohio. Tom might remember me as the kid who brought in a Foldy-wan… And then accidentally fell over and tore his big Yoda (Sorry again for that!). I had also previosly made an account on here (though, I wasn’t very active, and I’ve since lost the email and password to it).

Recently, I decided to come back here and look around a bit for nostalgic purposes. While I was scrolling through the front page, I saw a rather interesting screenshot of a tree-like enemy in an RPG. I thought it looked similar to an enemy from a series I’m a big fan of, called “Mother” (or EarthBound in the US).

After checking out some old sprites for the game on Google, I found the exact same tree enemy Tom had taken a picture of! And that’s when it hit me….

Tom is a fan of the Mother series! (or, at the very least, he’s played it)

This was mind-blowing to me. I had only met maybe 1 other person in real life other than myself who even knew what Mother was. And now apparently TOM ANGLEBERGER was a fan this whole time? I couldn’t believe it. I had even more in common with this guy than I had originally thought.

So I decided to make this origami Ninten (the protagonist) in celebration of this discovery. It’s not my best work, but I haven’t made origami in a long time and I’m a bit rusty. I’m not sure if Tom will ever see this, but I just want him to know I think it’s amazing that he likes these games too.
